Mahmoud Ahmadi, PhD, PE joins Sam Schwartz as Principal + Director of Transportation Engineering, West Coast

Sam Schwartz is excited to announce Mahmoud Ahmadi, PhD, PE, has joined the firm as Principal + Director of Transportation Engineering, West Coast.

Mahmoud has three decades of experience spanning multiple areas of transportation planning and traffic engineering, including comprehensive multimodal area plans, corridor studies, freight and goods movement analysis, data-driven/performance-based planning, environmental impact assessments, project prioritization/ranking, project implementation, and funding strategies. He leads and manages transportation projects by developing and calibrating multimodal travel demand models including Heavy Duty Truck (HDT) models, conducting mesoscopic or microscopic simulations, performing traffic operations analysis, analyzing third party mobile data, and developing multimodal mobility performance measures.

Mahmoud’s appointment bolsters Sam Schwartz’s position at the cutting edge of safe, sustainable, people-centered transportation on the West Coast. In California, the firm is at work on projects ranging from analyzing emerging mobility technologies in San Jose to redesigning the Hollywood Walk of Fame, exploring options for congestion pricing in San Francisco, and piloting tactical mobility lanes in Culver City. Sam Schwartz is also active across the Pacific Northwest on electrification, climate change mitigation, and strategic transportation planning, among other efforts, and recently opened a new office in Seattle.
