NACTO Urban Street Design Guide Training Workshop

The Sam Schwartz team has worked closely with NACTO (the National Association of City Transportation Officials) to develop indus­try-leading street design guidelines and to educate practitioners in their application and implementation. Sam Schwartz was retained by NACTO to serve as a technical advisor on their Global Street Design Guide (GSDG). Sam Schwartz has collaborated closely with both NACTO and the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) to develop and facilitate a series of technical workshops for public agency staff in a range of cities to understand current industry best practices in street design, to interpret the USDG guidelines to their local regulatory and community context, and to solve challenges in implementing safer, more multi-modal and livable streets (such as those related to funding, construction, maintenance, and interpretation of national standards and guidelines). Sam Schwartz led workshops in cities including Washington, DC; Memphis, TN; Hollywood, FL; Toronto, ON; and Halifax, NS.
