LaGuardia Airport Redevelopment
Transportation Management Plan
Credit: Port Authority of New York and New Jersey
Sam Schwartz was retained by Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ) Traffic Engineering to provide operational support for managing and monitoring traffic during LaGuardia Airport’s redevelopment.
Central to this effort is ongoing monitoring of landside transportation conditions at LGA. This consists of continuous collection and reporting of various transportation metrics, such as vehicle volumes and speeds, public bus travel times, taxi pick-ups, parking occupancy, and regional roadway travel times. Sam Schwartz summarizes this data in the LGA Landside Transportation Daily Report, which is compiled and distributed to stakeholders every day of the year. Longer-term trends and other metrics, such as crash data, are also tracked and summarized in a quarterly report. Sam Schwartz stores and maintains all transportation data, which has been organized in a comprehensive, searchable database, for producing ongoing analysis of transportation conditions.
