Belt Parkway Reconstruction Outreach
The New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) is in the process of reconstructing seven bridges over the Belt Parkway, which presently serves about 20,000 vehicles per day. The project encompasses over twenty miles of roadway and affects two boroughs, multiple community boards, businesses, and neighborhoods. Sam Schwartz serves as the community outreach liaison for this challenging task.
Working with the project contractors, Sam Schwartz developed and implemented a public information plan. The firm is responsible for management of the plan, public information support, preparation of materials—including translation into Spanish, Russian and Urdu—and coordinating media communications. It is also responsible for graphics for community presentations, outreach to public officials and local constituents, and assistance with interagency coordination. In addition, Sam Schwartz works with the project team to provide a monthly construction status summary to NYCDOT.
