Kovid Saxena, AICP, LEED AP, ENV SP, named to NAEP Board of Directors
Sam Schwartz is pleased to announce that Principal and Director of Environmental Planning Kovid Saxena, AICP, LEED AP, ENV SP, has been named to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Environmental Professionals. NAEP is the premiere nationwide, interdisciplinary association for those working in the environmental space, dedicated to upholding the highest ethical standards and promoting best practices across the private, governmental, and non-profit sectors.
As head of Sam Schwartz’s environmental practice, Kovid has led review for critical infrastructure and development projects across multiple sectors, including affordable housing, technology, renewable energy, and transportation. Recent projects have included 495 11th Ave., which will deliver, as part of a million square feet mixed-use development, 350 affordable units to the last remaining large developable parcel in Manhattan’s Hudson Yards neighborhood; the Union Square Tech Hub, slated to play a key role in fostering the city’s growing technology sector; NYC’s first-in-the-nation congestion pricing program; and battery storage facilities crucial to deployment of renewable energy at the grid level.
Along with his work for Sam Schwartz, Kovid is an active thought leader on the intersection of environmental planning, equity, and public health. On May 10th, he will be joining a panel at NAEP’s annual conference exploring how new funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law could help reimagine infrastructure such as the Cross Bronx Expressway to improve public health and quality of life.
